What is Syntropic Farming?

Syntropic Farming is an innovative approach to regenerative agriculture which allows us to create dynamic, successional, and economically viable ecosystems that restore degraded soil biodiversity. By understanding and respecting nature's complex system, Syntropic Farming imitates the natural regeneration of forests and provides a harmonious integration of our food production systems.

The Principles

The following guiding principles were laid out by our instructors:
  • Keep the soil covered
  • Maximize photosynthesis
  • Stratification
  • Synchronization
  • Natural succession
  • Management

Ian Trew is keynote presenter and permaculture course teacher of the Permaculture Design Certificate course, co-founder of Noosa Forest Retreat, a holistic permaculture education centre & community, and manager of Beach Health Retreat on the Sunshine Coast, Australia.

Please read the following document carefully and understand it thoroughly before registering.

As a condition of entrance, I agree to this release of claims, waiver of liability and assumption of risks. I hereby assume all of the risks of attending Noosa Forest Retreat and participating in any activity therein, including and not limited to, any risks that may arise from dangerous or defective equipment or property owned, maintained or controlled by NFR, or because of their possible liability without fault.

I acknowledge that this Accident Waiver and Release of Liability Form will be used by NFR and any event holders and organisers of activities, and that it will govern my actions and responsibilities at any event or activity at NFR. In consideration of my application and permitting my attendance at NFR, I hereby take action for myself, my executors, administrators, heirs, next of kin, successors, and assigns as follows:

To the fullest extent permitted at law, I waive, release and discharge any and all claims I may now and in the future have against and fully and finally release from any claims and liability, and agree not to sue the NFR, its offices, employees, volunteers, visitors and representatives (including contractors, event holders and authorised representatives) for any personal injury, death, property damage, expense or loss sustained by me as a result of my visit to or participation in any activity at NFR, due to any cause whatsoever (including omissions, errors, negligence or carelessness, or from dangerous or defective equipment). This includes participation in any hazardous activities.

I indemnify the NFR, it's offices, employees, volunteers, visitors and its representatives against any claims and liabilities, whether direct or indirect, for any damage or loss suffered by myself, my child/children and next of kin. This applies whether any said damage or loss results from my being on the premises or observing or participating in any activities (on the premises or elsewhere) or any acts or omissions while on the premises or observing or participating in the activities.

I am aware that in addition to usual dangers and risks, NFR as a working rural property has certain additional dangers and risks such of which may include snake or spider bite, falling trees or branches, fire, machine tool misuse, waterway mishap or physical overexertion and due to its remoteness, medical services and/or evacuation may prove difficult in a timely manner.

I accept and assume all the risks, both foreseeable and unforeseeable, inherent in such a property and all activities associated thereto, and the possibility of personal injury, death, property damage or loss resulting therefrom. I acknowledge that the enjoyment and satisfaction from a visit or stay at NFR is derived in part from inherent risks associated with its remoteness, rural nature and from participation in its many activities and that these inherent risks contribute to such enjoyment and satisfaction. I agree that if I suffer injury or illness, NFR may at my cost arrange medical treatment and medical evacuation service as deemed essential.

I am not relying on any oral, written, or visual representations or statements by the NFR, its staff or volunteers or any other inducement or coercion to visit or stay at NFR.

Further, I have read, understood, and agree to comply with all the rules, regulations, procedures and other information provided to me or posted on the premises

I understand that at NFR, I may be photographed. I agree to allow my photo, video or film likeness to be used for any legitimate purpose by the NFR, event holders and assigns.

The accident waiver and release of liability shall be construed broadly to provide a release and waiver to the maximum extent permissible under applicable law.

If anything in this agreement is or is determined to be unenforceable, illegal, voidable or void in a jurisdiction then it is severed for that jurisdiction and the rest of the deed remains in full force and effect in all other jurisdictions.

I have read and understood this agreement before signing it and agree that this agreement will be binding upon my heirs, next of kin, executors, administrators and successors I am aware that this is a release of liability and a contract and i sign it of my own free will.
