Permayouth Americas April Festival
Event description
A permaculture festival ran for the and soon by the youth.
Join us as we gather like-minded youth from North, Central and South America to talk about permaculture. We are creating a safe container for the youth to share and practice practivism (practical activism). Let's build community inspiring one another as we share our experiences and ask questions. This is our April festival, we will be talking about building our youth-led group and leadership possibilities. Our special guests will be John A. Lago Gonzalez from Tierra Nueva in Puerto Rico, winner of the Youth in Permaculture award and Bryan Deans president and founder of the Oglala Lakota Cultural & Economic Revitalization Initiative (OLCERI) and host of the Indigenous Wisdom & Permaculture Skills Convergence (IWPSC), on his permaculture demonstration site. It will be a lot of fun. We can't wait to see you there!
In addition, help us support OLCERI!
Established in 2002 by Oglala Lakota tribal member, Bryan Deans, OLCERI provides motivated individuals opportunities for greater self-sufficiency by teaching traditional, Oglala Lakota Sioux skills in gardening, regenerative agriculture, permaculture, holistic management, appropriate technologies, horse capture/adoption programs, and low-cost sustainable home-building initiatives.
Our guidance comes from permaculture and the Lakota medicine wheel, a symbol of the interconnectedness of our world. The seven human needs represented by the medicine wheel dovetails with the three ethics and principles of Permaculture.
OLCERI leads through servant leadership, a practice rooted in Lakota tradition, and in this way, we will strengthen and empower the people of Pine Ridge and revitalize the Oglala Lakota culture.
