Event description

A permaculture festival ran for and soon by the youth.

At this gathering, we will be talking about the permaculture principle "Creatively use and respond to change".

This is our closing gathering of the year and we have a very special guest, Rosemary Gladstar.

Rosemary is a leader in the modern herbal movement, Rosemary Gladstar is known as the "godmother of American herbalism." As a lifelong student of plants, Rosemary has taught and written about herbs for over 45 years. She is the author of twelve books including Medicinal Herbs: A Beginner’s GuideHerbal Healing for Women, Rosemary Gladstar’s Herbal Recipes for Vibrant Well Being and Herbal Healing for Men. Rosemary is the co-founder and former director of both The International Herb Symposium and The New England Women’s Herbal Conference, the Founding President of United Plant Savers, and the co-founder and original formulator of Traditional Medicinals Tea Company. She is the author and inspiration behind the popular home study course The Science & Art of Herbalism that has inspired and taught many thousands of students over the past three decades. Rosemary was awarded an Honorary Doctorate for her life’s work from the National University of Naturopathic Medicine in 2018. She recently moved from her home at Sage Mountain ~ an herbal retreat center and botanical sanctuary where she lived for 30 years ~ to a smaller haven where she tends to her new gardens. www.scienceandartofherbalism.com

Join us as we gather like-minded youth from North, Central and South America to talk about permaculture. We are creating a safe platform for youth to share and practice practivism (practical activism). Let's build community, inspiring one another as we share our experiences and ask questions!

See you at the gathering!

In addition, help us support OLCERI!

Established in 2002 by Oglala Lakota tribal member, Bryan Deans, OLCERI provides motivated individuals opportunities for greater self-sufficiency by teaching traditional, Oglala Lakota Sioux skills in gardening, regenerative agriculture, permaculture, holistic management, appropriate technologies, horse capture/adoption programs, and low-cost sustainable home-building initiatives.

Our guidance comes from permaculture and the Lakota medicine wheel, a symbol of the interconnectedness of our world. The seven human needs represented by the medicine wheel dovetails with the three ethics and principles of Permaculture.

OLCERI leads through servant leadership, a practice rooted in Lakota tradition, and in this way, we will strengthen and empower the people of Pine Ridge and revitalize the Oglala Lakota culture.
