Permie Visit Aug 2025 Nalinga
Event description
Imagine moving from the land of "Beautiful one day, perfect the next," to the land of "How many seasons do we have to endure today?" This is what one brave couple did, ditching short sleeves for long, sandals for gumboots, and inheriting a grove of fruit trees with which they are unfamiliar. So, let's give them a hand, and learn something along the way.
We'll arrive at Nalinga around 9:30 for a welcoming hot cuppa, then we'll wander out to the fruit orchard at 10 for a quick primer on pruning hygiene, then watch the restoration of a long neglected tree back to a useful and productive form. Finally, we'll split off into small groups to tackle other needy trees under the watchful eyes of some experienced pruners.
Lunch will be a collaborative affair, with everyone bringing a contribution towards a grand permie feast under the gum trees. After lunch we'll have a tour of the property for an RSB! A What?! A Rapid Site Brainstorming session! Let's come up with as many ideas as we can for the new owners to help them develop the property into the oasis they would like it to be, including some small surrounding paddocks.
