Winter Solstice Gathering
Event description
Join the Permaculture SA Winter Solstice gathering.
A celebration of seasons, community and being local.
Location - a private property in Cherry Gardens, generously offered for this event, with a large indoor workshop space and facilities, and a beautiful open outdoor space for a solstice bonfire. Address will be supplied to registered participants, closer to the date.
Cost - The event is free for Permaculture SA members and open to all ages. Non-members are very welcome to attend and may consider a donation at the time of booking, or may like to become a member of Permaculture SA. Make sure to register on Humanitix to reserve your space. This event will be limited to 50 lucky people to keep it comfortable and accessible. Please ensure you notify us if you are unable to attend so we can ensure accurate numbers and pass your place on if the event fills.
Please bring some things to share as per the activities described below.
From 3pm we will be facilitating skill-share sessions on:
basketry and weaving
tonics, tinctures and remedies
food preserving
Bring your knowledge and examples to share with others, learn new skills, meet new friends. There will be one or two facilitators for each space but the focus will be on enlarging our community knowledge base. We will also have a seed swap table focusing on getting ready for spring planting.
Around sunset we will enjoy a pot luck dinner. Permaculture SA will provide some vegan and gluten free soups, please bring something to add to the feast (and please bring a card listing ingredients so people can eat according to their dietary requirements). There is a fully decked-out kitchen space available for heating food, washing up etc.
There is a large comfy indoor space and (weather permitting) we will be lighting an outdoor bonfire to enjoy. Please bring a musical instrument, song, poem or story to share as part of our evening open-mic fun. Solstice themes are very welcome too. Or simply enjoy the company and occasion.
Being a Sunday we will aim to wrap-up around 8.30 - 9pm.
Please bring:
A plate / bowl, cup and utensils.
A dish to add to the pot luck dinner.
BYO drinks. Alcoholic drinks are fine but please enjoy respectfully.
Weather appropriate clothing.
Skill-share knowledge/examples/seeds to swap and/or simply your enthusiasm to participate
We will provide:
A fabulous indoor / outdoor space with kitchen and toilet facilities
Some vegan and gluten-free soups
A range of herb teas and non-alcoholic beverages
Skill-swap spaces and facilitators
We can't wait to see you there. Please get in contact if you have any further questions.
