Event description

Karen can Huizen, a seasoned Permaculturist, and her husband Paul, run Elderglen, and small farming business in North East Victoria.

Looking to diversify there holding, they looked at the Elderberry and it's uses both culinary and medicinal. This lead to planting 20 trees in 2017, subsequently growing their orchard through trialing and propagating plants. Add to that much study and research, and the van Huizens have been accepted into the Elderberry global community as some who knows what they're talking about.

Karen will talk to us about Elderberry production for both the home and business, some its culinary uses in jams, chutneys, etc., some of its medicinal potential, and perhaps most importantly, what parts of the Elderberry bush should not be consumed.
