FAQs

  • What is a restorative practice with Dr Maria Crawford?

Think of this as being like strategic rest. The lights in the room will be dimmed and you will be given a pillow, a mat, and a blanket and guided gently through approximately six different poses. These poses will not require you to stand at all and there is very little movement involved. Each pose is optional and you can chose whether to participate or to simply rest. Whatever you decide you will still have the opportunity to integrate what you learnt earlier in the workshop. No previous experience with any form of restorative practice is required. This practice is about learning to listen to your body and then responding in a way that honours that.

  • Will I be expected to share or speak during the workshop?

Permission to Thrive is all about choice, maximum comfort, and safety. You will have the choice to share as much or as little as you would like. You are invited to bring a notebook to take notes during the workshop which are private to you. The individual wellbeing plan is also completed individually and remains private to you.

  • What is an individualised wellbeing plan?

During the workshop you will learn four different pillars that make up the model of wellbeing. Towards the end of the workshop you will receive your own personalised copy of this framework and then be guided through a reflection exercise whereby you will design your own "next steps" across the four different pillars. Dr Maria Crawford is available for assistance whenever required but this exercise is completed individually and will remain private to you. This framework (individualised to you) is then available for you to take home following the workshop.

  • How do I sustain my practice after the workshop?

Approximately two weeks after the workshop you will receive an email from Dr Maria Crawford (should you chose to do so) with a post-workshop resource. This resource is designed to assist you with sustaining any next steps that you planned to implement following the workshop.
