Personalised Data Analysis Advice - Online Small Group Sessions for Science Extension HSC

About the Program

Whether you are doing a primary investigation or using secondary data, you will need to use the right data analysis techniques to find and present trends in the data!

The Faculty of Science presents these free after school sessions where individual HSC Science Extension high school students from NSW can sign-up to hear from tutoring data scientists from the University of Sydney. Students will book into a half hour time slot with a small number of other students so that they can get personalised advice and recommendations for their own investigation data.

These sessions make up the third and final part of the data analysis advice series run by the University of Sydney for HSC Science Extension students. This third part is designed to help students apply the content taught in sections one and two of the workshop series. If you did not get the chance to attend or would like to review the content from part one – Understanding Method Design and Data Collection – click here to download the slides. Part two – Understanding Hypothesis Testing and Statistical Analysis – will run on Thursday 23rd May, registrations are open now. The slides from part two will be uploaded here after the session.

Before the Session

Before the session, registered students will be asked to fill in a survey with some brief information on their project topics and describe what sort of data they're using.

Attendees will be sent the Zoom meeting details closer to the date and will need a stable internet connection to attend. It is recommended that you have your own device to ask questions directly.
