Your ticket includes a private cinema screening of the acclaimed film On the Basis of Sex, a connection with a wonderful group of women, and a hosted post-film conversation exploring the themes that continue to shape women’s lives and opportunities. Food and drinks will be available to purchase from the cinema throughout the evening.

Inspired by the early career of Ruth Bader Ginsburg, On the Basis of Sex is a compelling story of courage, ambition, partnership, and persistence. It invites us to reflect on the barriers women have challenged, the choices we continue to navigate, and the ways each of us can create change in our work, families, businesses, communities, and lives.

Meet Suzanne Worner 

Suzanne Worner is a creative-sector and community leader with more than 30 years' experience in the media, including 15 years as a film festival General Manager. A filmmaker dedicated to capturing and celebrating local stories, she has built her career around the power of storytelling to connect communities, inspire conversation, and champion diverse voices.

Suzanne is also Business Development Manager at The Backlot Perth, Development Consultant with Same Drum, and a Board Member of the Chamber of Arts and Culture WA. Alongside her work in the creative industries, she serves as Councillor for the City of Vincent's North Ward, where she continues to advocate for arts, culture, and community connection.

Meet Dr Susie Conte

Dr Susie Conte is a producer, researcher, and creative-sector professional with more than 20 years' experience across theatre, film, and community arts. Throughout her career, Susie has developed extensive expertise in producing, project management, artist liaison, partnerships, contracts, logistics, and governance, with a focus on delivering inclusive, high-quality creative experiences.

She has produced feature-length documentaries including Parkerville: Sets, Bugs and Rock 'n' Roll and Green: The Fight for Rock and Roll, as well as the short films The Wallpaper, Private Life of a War Memorial and Pink Rabbit. Her work has supported independent filmmakers and celebrated stories that reflect Western Australia's diverse communities.

Susie has also worked across the festival sector, managing partnerships with filmmakers, distributors, and sponsors, and ensuring projects are delivered to the highest professional standards.

Her PhD research at the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts explored feminist theatre and adaptation, reflecting her longstanding interest in how stories shape culture, identity, and community.
