Rose, a young Maltese-Australian woman, inherits her Nanna Marija’s cupcake business when Marija passes away. In order to cope with the loss, Rose takes on far more than the recipes her Nanna left behind. Assuming Marija’s identity, Rose avoids grief by escaping into a magical 1960s dreamscape.

Sparks fly when Rose meets Clara, the new checkout girl at a milk bar she supplies cupcakes to. Unexpected feelings force Rose to face love and loss in a search for the secret ingredient her Nanna never told her.
