PG Presents Michael Paynter

Michael Paynter has been a significant part of the Australian music industry landscape since first appearing in the clubs of Melbourne in 2004. He has been an international recording artist with Sony Music Worldwide, culminating in several top 20 singles and the multiplatinum, radio dominating single ‘Love The Fall feat. The Veronicas in 2010.

He has recorded albums in Los Angeles and the UK and written and worked with the best of the best the world over. As a solo artist, he has toured extensively in Australia and Internationally supporting Miley Cyrus, The Script and Seal on their respective national stadium tours, as well as touring with legends such as John Farnham and Hall and Oates, Vanessa Amorosi and Shannon Noll.

From 2013 until 2020, Michael was the music director for The Veronicas, touring with them all over Australia/NZ, Europe, the USA, and Asia. Michael is also currently a full-time member of both ICEHOUSE and JIMMY BARNES’ live touring band – two of Australia’s most classic and iconic artists. He has toured the country playing guitar with Bachelor Girl, Killing Heidi, Delta Goodrem, Reece Mastin, and many others. There are not many corners of the Australian live music industry that Michael has not been intrinsically involved with.

In 2024, Michael took on the gigantic role of “Jesus” in the Australia season of Timothy Sheader’s award winning production of Jesus Christ Superstar, earning him resounding praise from industry, fans and critics alike and culminating in him winning the Judith Johnson award for ‘Best Performance in a Leading Role in a Musical’ at the 2024 Sydney Theatre Awards.

When not on stage performing, he is one half of ‘MSquared’ – the multiple ‘ARIA’ and ‘Golden Guitar Award’ winning songwriting and production duo currently making waves in the world over. Splitting their time between Melbourne and Nashville, they have cemented themselves among the top creatives in both international country and pop music.
