Sun, 25 May, 2pm - 4pm AEST

Event description

We celebrate this year's Philippine Heritage Day (2025) with a focus on Philippine native trees and their unique contributions to the world's biodiversity; their extinction is also a loss of both our collective memory and our Philippine culture.

Our guest speaker is Dr. Augustine Doronila, an esteemed environmental chemist and an Honorary Senior Fellow at the University of Melbourne. Dr. Doronila's wide-ranging research interests have included metal hyper-accumulation in plants, soil chemistry and plant nutrition, and restoration ecology. His talk will be followed by an open forum, some musical entertainment, and an afternoon tea.

The standard $15 entrance fee ($10 for Association members) covers a sumptuous "merienda", or Filipino afternoon tea, supplemented with additional food donated by the Philippine-Australian Association of the ACT and the Monaro Region.
