Photos, Phones & Digital Memories | Warilla
Description
About this workshop
Are your family photos scattered across your phone, computer, old devices, USB drives or the cloud?
Perhaps you've wondered whether your photos are actually backed up — or what would happen if you lost your phone tomorrow.
For many of us, some of our most precious memories now exist only digitally. But with photos spread across different devices and services, it can be difficult to know where to begin.
Photos, Phones & Digital Memories is a friendly, hands-on workshop designed to help you understand where your photos are, what "the cloud" actually means, and how to start protecting and organising the memories that matter most.
You won't just sit and listen.
We'll work through practical activities together so you leave with a clear plan for your own photo collection.
What we'll cover
During the workshop, you'll learn:
Where your digital photos may be hiding
What iCloud, Google Photos and cloud storage actually do
The difference between storing and backing up photos
How to check whether your phone photos are being backed up
Simple ways to organise a large photo collection
What to do with photos on old phones, computers, USB drives and other devices
How to reduce duplicates and digital clutter
How to make sure important family memories aren't lost
Everything will be explained in plain English, without unnecessary technical jargon.
What you'll do
Activity 1 – Where Are My Photos?
Create your own Photo Location Map by identifying everywhere your photos may currently be stored:
Current phone
Old phones
Tablet
Computer
External hard drives
USB drives
iCloud
Google Photos
OneDrive
Social media
Other locations
You may be surprised by just how many places your photos are living!
Activity 2 – Is It Actually Backed Up?
We'll look at the difference between having photos somewhere and having a genuine backup.
You'll work through a simple checklist to identify which of your precious photos may currently be at risk.
Activity 3 – My Photo Rescue Plan
Create a realistic action plan for bringing your photos together, protecting them and gradually getting them organised.
You won't need to sort 20 years of photos during the workshop!
The goal is to leave knowing where to start and what to do next.
Your Digital Win
Before you leave, you'll identify:
Where your most important photos are currently stored and whether they are protected.
That's one important job you can stop putting off.
What to bring
Please bring:
A pen
Your mobile phone
Your tablet if you regularly use one for photos
Any questions you have about your own photo collection
You don't need to bring old computers, hard drives or boxes of USB sticks! We'll record those on your worksheet so you can deal with them safely at home.
No previous workshop attendance or technical knowledge is required.
