- Who is this event for? Is it only for final-year students?
This event is for all year levels and degrees. Whether you are a first-year student just starting to explore options, a mid-degree student looking for a summer internship, or a postgraduate/honours student hunting for graduate jobs, there is something here for you. We welcome students across physics, mathematical physics, astrophysics, data science, engineering, and related technical fields.
- Are non-UoM students able to come?
Yes, absolutely. While the venue is hosted at the University of Melbourne, this event is co-organised by the student societies of RMIT, Swinburne, La Trobe, and UoM, alongside the Australian Institute of Physics. Students from all universities, TAFEs, and institutions across Victoria are highly encouraged to attend.
- What's the dress code?
The dress code is smart casual to business casual. Because you will be interacting face-to-face with representatives from industry partners, government agencies, and research institutes, we recommend wearing something polished yet comfortable that makes a great first impression.
- Will food be provided?
Yes, complimentary food and refreshments will be served during the expo and networking section of the evening. We will have a range of catering options available but if you have any dietary requirements or allergies, please make sure to indicate them when filling out your registration form during checkout so we can best accommodate you.

Dr. Adam Batten
Dr. Adam Batten is a Neuroimaging Informatics Fellow at Swinburne University of Technology, where he applies computational and data analysis techniques from astrophysics to cross-disciplinary challenges. From galaxy evolution to local tree canopy coverage, Adam’s career highlights the power of translating physics skills into diverse industries. He was previously an associate researcher with ASTRO 3D and the ARC Centre of Excellence for Dark Matter Particle Physics (CDM).
