Physics Gymnasium 2024, Lecture 3: Physics for Cancer Treatment

Event description

Come along to the third lecture in our Physics Gymnasium Series for 2024 to hear our speaker, Dr Jacinta Yap, explore the world of medical physics:

This lecture will explore how physics is currently used to treat cancers in hospitals every day and also explore what may be possible with future developments in this exciting and important field. We will explore the world of medical physics – from radiation and particle therapy concepts, to accelerator technologies – and discuss how a career in physics can take you across the world and into many multidisciplinary fields.

Come along to the Hercus Theatre (near the corner of Swanston and Elgin Streets/Tin Alley) at 5:45 pm for light refreshments, for a 6 pm start. The lecture will be 40-50 minutes with time for some questions at the end.

Whilst this is an in-person event, a Zoom link will be sent out to all participants in the hour before the lecture to ensure that our far-flung friends can still come along virtually.

See you there!
