Preparing for the 2025 HSC Physics Exam (2/9)
Event description
This interactive workshop contains brand new resources for Physics teachers, helping them to analyse the 2024 exam and best prepare their students for the 2025 HSC.Ā Ā
In this workshop, teachers will:
- leverage 2024 RAP Analyses to benefit Physics teaching and learning
- scrutinise the 2024 exam for emerging themes and commonplace mistakes by students
- translate the language within questions into physics concepts and equations
- pilot mark brand new bespoke questions and sample answers
- unpack and attempt a brand new 9-mark question
- identify strategies for cross-module questions
- collaboratively develop an exam-style question with marking criteria and exemplar answer
All teachers will walk away with a variety of resources to assist their students in their forthcoming exams. Also, all attendees will receive our bespoke RAP Analysis Spreadsheet upon registration to use for their own exam analysisĀ meetings at school.
NESAĀ Accreditation
Completing Preparing for the HSC Physics Exam will contribute 5 hours of NSWĀ Education Standards Authority (NESA) Accredited PD in the priority area of DeliveryĀ and assessment of NSW Curriculum/Early Years Learning Framework addressingĀ standard descriptors 1.1.2, 2.1.2 from the Australian Professional Standards forĀ Teachers towards maintaining Proficient Teacher Accreditation in NSW.

Workshop Delivered by Simon Crook
Dr Simon Crook is a very experienced HSC Physics teacher and provider of Physics professional learning, with a PhD in Physics Educations Research (USyd) and a BSc (Hons) in Physics (Manchester). Simon has been working with many high schools and school systems to best prepare their teachers and students for HSC Physics, including his regular partnership schools. In addition, Simon has been in regular dialogue with STANSW, NESA and The University of Sydney, as well as having articles published in The Conversation, Australian Physics and AARE, regarding the HSC Physics syllabus and exams. Previously, he was a HSC Physics Marker for several years and also worked on HSC Physics Advice Line.Ā As such, Simon is in the unique position of currently teaching to a wide variety of students while delivering many professional learning and student workshops around the HSC Physics syllabus and exams.
