Event description

This NESA ACCREDITED workshop is designed for teachers new to teaching HSC Physics plus those who would like to refamiliarise themselves with the content, background theory and make connections across the different modules of the HSC Physics syllabus. We will be unpacking:

  • Advanced Mechanics
  • Electromagnetism
  • The Nature of Light
  • From the Universe to the Atom
  • Opportunities for Depth Studies

In addition, we will connect with the 'assumed knowledge' from the Year 11 syllabus

NESA ACCREDITATION
Completing Theory for HSC Physics Teachers will contribute 5 hours of NSW Education Standards Authority (NESA) Accredited PD in the priority area of Delivery and Assessment of NSW Curriculum/EYLF addressing standard descriptor 2.1.2 from the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers towards maintaining Proficient Teacher Accreditation in NSW.


A Certificate of Completion will be sent to Graduate Teachers for their evidence.

Workshop Delivered by Dr Simon Crook

Dr Simon Crook is a very experienced HSC Physics teacher and provider of Physics professional learning, with a PhD in Physics Educations Research (USyd) and a BSc (Hons) in Physics (Manchester). Simon has been working with many high schools and school systems to best prepare their teachers and students for HSC Physics, including his regular client schools. In addition, Simon has been in regular dialogue with STANSW, NESA and The University of Sydney, as well as having articles published in The Conversation and Australian Physics, regarding the Physics syllabus. As such, Simon is in the unique position of currently teaching to a wide variety of students while delivering many professional learning and student workshops around the Physics syllabus.
