Description

FUSION: Piano Music of the Last 100 Years
Featuring pianist Mateo Hurtado

Tuesday, November 3, 2026 | 7:00 PM
Mexican Cultural Institute | Washington, D.C.

Join us for FUSION: Piano Music of the Last 100 Years, a concert featuring pianist Mateo Hurtado Castillo in an exploration of a century of exceptional piano music that transcends genres, challenges boundaries, and discovers unexpected connections between diverse musical traditions.

Imagine Bill Evans, Duke Ellington, Chick Corea, Alberto Ginastera, György Kurtág, Pierre Boulez, and Consuelo Velázquez sharing the same stage. Through their music, different worlds enter into dialogue, creating contrasts, revealing common ground, and inviting us to reconsider the boundaries between musical styles.

From classical music and jazz to the avant-garde and Latin American music, FUSIÓN offers a fresh perspective on the piano, free from labels and guided by the expressive voice of each composition. The result is a rich mosaic of sounds, gestures, and ideas that celebrates the diversity of musical expression across the last hundred years.
