Pickling & Fermenting Workshop

Moira Shire Council in partnership with Open Table are excited to deliver a no waste workshop & pickling activity!
Join us for an educational and interactive cooking experience, focusing on innovative yet simple ways to reduce our household food waste and preserve food to last longer!
Guided by our facilitator, we will get you started on quick pickling & making simple ferments. You will learn how to start fermenting safely at home and even make a jar of pickles to take home!
Be inspired to get creative with vegetable scraps, odds and ends and excess seasonal produce!

Where:Â Nathalia Community House - 17 Harcourt St, Nathalia VICÂ
What you need:
- own small (up to 350ml)Â sized sterilised jars (you will be supplied a jar if you cannot bring one!)
Please note:
- children must be accompanied by a guardian
- please wear closed-toe shoes

Open Table shares free food with those in need in neighbourhoods across Melbourne. We use surplus food that would otherwise be thrown away and turn it into nutritious meals to share with the community. We do this to increase food security and reduce food waste.
