FAQs

  • How can I compete?

We have limited positions yet to throw your hat into the ring you can fill in this form and we will get back to you with urgency.

  • Will there be other food on the day?

Yes! Pies naturally. And wines! Yet due to the limited and temporary nature of the event we wont have a broad menu so we apologise if not all dietaries are covered.

  • What are the judging categories?

    Class categories include:

    The Golden Prawn

The ultimate Pie Pageant prize, a culmination of flare, taste, presentation, cut ability and a je ne sais qoui that defines this remarkable pie. Almost unanimous judge support is required as this is the pie of the day. Can only be one winner.

    Poise & Pastry

This is the ultimate exterior, facade focused, flare category. Pastry must be sound in colour, texture and decoration. It offers more than just structure, it is art and architecture. Poise factors into the baker’s ability to present such a pie, its platter, its description, its title all lead to poise points. Two winners of this category share the esteem.

    Feelings & Fillings

The guts and heart of the pie must be transformative, delicious, thoughtful and faultless. Its contents so fantastic it covers many sins across other categories. It is well filled, perfectly seasoned, comprised of fine ingredients, lovingly prepared. It is these attributes that must combine with passion and story to create a filling of feeling. A pie of heart and passion. Two winners of this category share this award.

    Peoples Choice

The crowd favourite as chosen by the people. A democratic award with no influence from the judges. Let the people have their pie.

    The Soggy Bottom Award

Make no mistake, the soggy bottom award is not a wooden spoon. The soggy bottom, is the pie that breaks convention and is still remarkably good. Intentionally or unintentionally, there is an element that defines it different to all other pies. It shouldn't be good but it really is. It may be soggy, it may have no pastry, it may be solid, it may be soft. A single award for such a pie.

  • Who are the judges and competitors?

Watch this space! We have a toothesome line up of folks that will not disappoint.
