Pierogi for a Purpose
Description
Come and make pierogi with us!
Join us for a relaxed, hands-on afternoon learning how to make delicious Polish pierogi (dumplings) from scratch - and then sitting down to enjoy what we've made together.
No cooking experience is needed. We'll show you how to make the dough, prepare the filling, shape the pierogi and cook them. There'll be plenty of time to chat, learn, eat and have a good time along the way.
A little bit of pierogi variety
We'll divide participants into small groups, with each group making a different type of pierogi. This means you'll get to try a few different fillings and styles, and we'll all have plenty to share at the end.
Vegetarian options will be available. Unfortunately, we can't cater for vegan or gluten-free dietary requirements for this workshop.
And there's a reason we're doing it.
All profits from the workshop will go towards our small community group, which is supporting a refugee family settling into life in Adelaide. So you'll leave with a full belly, some new cooking skills and the good feeling that your afternoon has helped someone else too.
About Us
Dulwich New Beginnings is a small group of Adelaide locals taking part in the Community Refugee Sponsorship Australia (CRISP) program. Through CRISP, we are supporting a refugee family as they settle into their new life in Adelaide.
The workshop is hosted by Ewa Poczman, one of our group members and a Polish-Australian home cook. Like many Polish families, food has always been a big part of Ewa's life - and pierogi are definitely one of those things that are better made together than alone!
This project is proudly supported by the City of Mitcham's Grant Program.
