Description

The Bowerbird Collective is thrilled to host Pieter Wispelwey's first ever solo recital in the Blue Mountains. Performing solo works by J.S. Bach, Benjamin Britten and more on his exquisite 1760 Guadagnini cello, this is an unmissable experience for all music lovers.

One of the world’s greatest cellists, Pieter Wispelwey is celebrated for performances of exceptional imagination, depth and expressive power. His repertoire spans centuries, from the great works of the Baroque to contemporary compositions, brought to life with an approach that is both intellectually curious and deeply personal.

Wispelwey’s career spans five continents and he has appeared as soloist with many of the world’s leading orchestras. With regular recital appearances in London (Wigmore Hall), Paris (Châtelet, Louvre), Amsterdam (Concertgebouw, Muziekgebouw), Brussels (Bozar), Berlin (Konzerthaus), Milan (Societta del Quartetto), Buenos Aires (Teatro Colon), Sydney (The Utzon Room), Melbourne (Melbourne Recital Centre), Los Angeles (Walt Disney Hall) and New York (Lincoln Center), Wispelwey has established a reputation as one of the most charismatic recitalists on the international circuit.
