Health equity isn't one-size-fits-all.
 
Person-centred care requires us to understand people in the context of their whole lives. For many LGBTQ+ people, factors such as disability, cultural background, age, socio-economic circumstances, and geographic location can intersect to shape their experiences of health and community care.
 
These overlapping experiences can create unique barriers to care and, in some cases, compound experiences of distress, discrimination, or exclusion. Understanding these intersections is critical to delivering truly inclusive, responsive, and equitable services.
 
Featuring lived experience voices, this session will discuss the unique barriers faced by intersectional LGBTQ+ communities and explore practical ways health and wellbeing services can deliver more inclusive, responsive, and equitable care.
 
The session will start a conversation about:

• what intersectionality means in the context of LGBTQ+ health and wellbeing

• how overlapping identities can influence health experiences, outcomes, and access to care

• the role of person-centred care in recognising and responding to diverse experiences and needs

• how intersecting forms of disadvantage can contribute to compounding distress and inequitable outcomes

• practical strategies for strengthening inclusive and responsive service delivery
