Cathedral Young Adults Pilgrimage Walk to The Carmelites
Event description
✨ Step into a Journey of Faith & Renewal ✨
Join us for a pilgrimage walk from St. Mary’s Cathedral to the Carmelite Monastery in Nedlands—a journey of reflection, prayer, and community. As we walk together, we’ll embrace the Jubilee Year’s theme, "Pilgrims of Hope," deepening our faith and connection along the way.
📅 Saturday, 22nd February
⏰ 8:00 AM – 2:00 PM
Come as you are, walk with purpose, and experience the beauty of this sacred journey.
Jubilee Indulgence
As part of the Jubilee Year, pilgrims who take part in this walk have a beautiful opportunity to receive a Jubilee Indulgence—a special grace offered by the Church to deepen our spiritual journey.
To receive this grace, the Church encourages pilgrims to:
✨ Walk with a heart open to renewal and reflection
✨ Receive Confession around the time of the pilgrimage
✨ Attend Mass and receive Holy Communion
✨ Pray for the intentions of the Pope (such as an Our Father or Hail Mary)
This is a chance to experience the fullness of what a pilgrimage can offer—strengthening your faith, finding peace, and drawing closer to God.
What to Expect on the Pilgrimage
This pilgrimage is about more than just the walk—it’s a time to step away from the busyness of life, reconnect with your faith, and journey alongside others seeking renewal and hope.
Here’s a rough guide to how the day will unfold:
🌿 8:00 AM – Mass at St. Mary’s Cathedral
We’ll begin our journey with Mass to centre our hearts and minds.
🚶♂️ 8:45 AM – Depart for the Carmelite Monastery
After Mass, we’ll start our walk together, following a scenic route along the river. This is a time for personal reflection, meaningful conversations, and simply enjoying the journey.
🙏 12:00 PM – Arrive at the Carmelite Monastery
The sisters will welcome us and share a bit about their way of life and the significance of the monastery.
✨ 12:30 PM – Time for Prayer & Reflection
Everyone will have space for personal prayer, silent reflection, or quiet time in the chapel. Priests will also be available for Confession for those who would like to receive the sacrament.
🍽️ Lunch & Fellowship
Afterward, we’ll head to a nearby park for a relaxed picnic-style lunch. Bring something to share if you’d like!
🌿 The Journey Home
The pilgrimage will conclude in Nedlands, and from there, everyone can organise their own return transport (see travel options below).
What to Bring:
✔️ Comfortable walking shoes
✔️ Sun protection (hat, sunscreen, umbrella)
✔️ Water bottle
✔️ A small snack or something for lunch
✔️ An open heart for reflection & renewal ✨
