Event description

Almost two years after his last performance, Pinky Beecroft returns to the Junkyard. This time he's taking us outside under the stars on a warm October evening, into the candle-lit beer-garden of love. It will be glorious.

His last show was an intimate piano-man vibe in the delightful Dining Room. "Yeah it was a tremendous night, but it sold out fast and it was packed AF," he says. "I'm thinking this time we give people more room to breathe and move about and do all the things that people love doing. Within reason." According to Pinky he's bringing his piano again but also possibly a guitarist - "I might even bring a bass-player or a bongo-enthusiast, who the hell knows." This is the nature of the man and his extraordinarily rare public outings.

Pinky Beecroft is an unpredictable thing. He was the singer songwriter front-person of Machine Gun Fellatio - a band known for legendary live shows, extreme off-stage shenanigans and a string of radio hits. At the height of their success Pinky abruptly quit the circus and disappeared. There were rumours: he'd gone into hiding in Norway; he'd relocated to the Arizona desert; he'd passed away. Thence followed mourning, weeping, whispers, conjecture, alleged sightings. A plaque bearing his name allegedly washed up on a beach in Peru.

All we know is that Pinky has played a bunch of solo shows, recorded albums, won an ARIA Award for Song Of The Year and performed sell-out tours as a stand-up comedian. His eccentric presence featured on TV shows as diverse as The Glasshouse and the World 9-Ball Championship. In recent years his public appearances have become increasingly rare and let's be honest: if you get to see him perform, in person, it's a small miracle. A really small miracle.

About this upcoming show, he says: "I just finished a new record, and it's disturbingly, almost catastrophically good. I'm going to preview some of it. I'm going to play some hits. It's an early show, the magic hour, it's going to be intense and magnificent. And it may never happen again."
