Pirates, Power and Passions: A History of Rum with Bronwyn
Event description
Join us for a rollicking journey through the wild and wonderful history of rum! From its origins in the sugarcane fields to its infamous role in piracy, rebellion, and high society, we’ll explore how this spirited drink shaped the world.
Whether fueling naval empires, sparking revolutions, or sweetening the punch bowls of the aristocracy, rum has always been more than just a drink—it’s a story of adventure, scandal, and survival in a bottle.
What will we cover?
In this class we’ll set sail on the rocky seas of rum history and explore:

Rum & Rebellion – From the American Revolution to Australia’s Rum Rebellion!
Tiki Culture & Cocktails – How rum went from rough grog to tropical paradise.
The Dark Side – Rum, sugar, and the brutal economics of the Triangle Trade.
