Description

Beyond the Pitch: Storytelling for Researchers and Innovators

Your research may be complex. Your explanation doesn’t have to be.

Whether you are speaking with a funding panel, potential collaborator, industry partner or someone outside your field, you need to be able to explain what you are working on and why it matters.

This practical seminar will explore how storytelling techniques can create a way into complex research and ideas. You will learn:

  • Why expertise can be difficult to communicate and create your intended impact

  • How to create connection and interest so people want to know more (and tell others)

  • A simple storytelling structure that works in any setting

This is not about oversimplifying your research or becoming a theatrical storyteller. It is about helping people outside your field understand what you are doing, why it matters and why they should keep listening.

Please join us from 10:45 am for coffee/tea and biscuits. The seminar will begin promptly at 11 am to allow time for audience Q&A.

This event will be catered so please 'Register' your attendance.
