    Thank you for your interest in our workshops to explore the Olds Park in Penshurst.

    We had a great experience in our first workshop where we began our discussion from a series of inspiration cards and delved into our personal experience of what does/not attract us to the park. 

    In the next workshop we will working towards one or two strong ideas to develop into a pilot project for delivery in the Summer months. You have been invited because of your unique perspective. We are bringing different people from different backgrounds to come together in a fun, playful and inclusive environment to help us imagine the next step of how we can enhance Olds Park Skate Park in Penshurst and pilot these ideas.

    Date: Wednesday 9 October 2024 

    Time: 4pm - 6pm (Arrival from 5.15pm) 

    Location: Olds Park, AFL Club Hall – 624 Forest Rd, Penshurst (The building is just behind the library, entrance underneath the awning. See photos below)

    Light refreshments will be provided. 

    Getting there: 

    • Mortdale Train Station is a 15 minute walk – Follow Morts Rd
    • Buses M91, 943
    • There is a car park available, entry is from Forest Road. 

    'Skate, Break and Build' leverages the successful advocacy of young people in the LGA to refurbish the Skatepark at Olds Park, Penshurst and explores growing community and culture of skateboarding and breaking in the local area. In August, we hosted two events as part of the Paris Olympics 2024 featuring art workshops, coaching sessions and demos alongside the Olympic Live Broadcast.

    If you haven’t already, please complete this quick survey about your experience about Olds Park.  

    These workshops will be delivered in two parts - Art Thinking and Design Thinking. 

    Workshop 1: Art Thinking (completed) - Focuses on defining the creative question to look for new directions and see the possibilities. See attached slides 

    Workshop 2: Design Thinking (October 9) - Focuses on developing creative solutions and prototypes. 

    No preparation is necessary, the session will begin with a short inspirational talk to set the scene followed by a series of facilitated activities delivered by the Art thinking expert team.

          

    About Places to Love Program 

    Georges River Council is a round three partner under Transport for NSW’s Places to Love program. This grant, which has been proudly funded by the NSW Government, gives Georges River the opportunity to explore how public spaces, such as streets, open spaces and public facilities, can be used for temporary nighttime activities. 

    About the Facilitator

    Art Thinking is a transdisciplinary lab working at the intersection between art, technology and social innovation. They are official Ambassador to the internationally renowned Ars Electronica that has been a leading platform for emerging, digital and new media art forms since 1979. The Art Thinking workshop, developed by Ars Electronica Futurelab, is a unique format of collective brainstorming to extract innovative creative questions.
