Event description

You are invited to the second instalment of 𝑷𝒍𝒂𝒏𝒕 𝑳𝒊𝒇𝒆 𝑫𝒓𝒂𝒘𝒊𝒏𝒈 at Greenhouse Studios on 𝑻𝒉𝒖𝒓𝒔𝒅𝒂𝒚 21𝒔𝒕 𝒐𝒇 𝑵𝒐𝒗𝒆𝒎𝒃𝒆𝒓 7-9𝒑𝒎

Branch away from anthropocentric life drawing norms and immerse yourself in the wonderful world of plants. Sketch a series of carefully curated displays to ambient music, observing and appreciating the beauty of plant bodies. Displays will be set up to express an ecological theme and there will be a brief introduction at the beginning of the night to introduce the species on display.

The event will be facilitated by Fabian and Tallulah - we are the co-directors of Greenhouse Studios, and behind the scenes we are huge plant nerds. Tallulah is a plant scientist and botanical illustrator with 3+ years experience as a university biology tutor. Fabian is studying landscape architecture and is a lifelong plant appreciator and propagator.

We will supply some basic drawing supplies but you are invited to work in your preferred medium and bring your own things.

We will also provide some herbal tea and cake.

Tickets are $20 each and space is limited (link in bio)

20% of ticket sales will be donated to SEED (Australia’s First Youth Climate Network)

This event takes place on unceded Gadigal and Wangal Land and may involve the use of native plant species. We pay our deepest respect to the rightful custodians of this land and acknowledge their ongoing care for Country as well as the vastness of Indigenous plant knowledge and artistic expression.

Plant displays will be carefully selected to minimise disturbance to local biodiversity and no plants will be killed for the sake of this event. It is our hope that this event will encourage environmental stewardship and reduce plant blindness.
