Planting Seeds for Democracy
Event description
The American Friends of the Palestinian House of Friendship (AFPHF) invite you to our annual fundraising event for PHF, Sunday, June 2, from 4:30EST to 5:30EST on Zoom, hosted by Morgan Bassichis and Una Aya Osato. A zoom link will be sent no later than May 31 to ticketholders for the event. (The correct day and time is Sunday June 2 at 4:30pm EST, please ignore anything different you may see!)
Mohammed Sawalha, founder and director of PHF, and Majed Sawalha, his son and successor, will be speaking to us from the beleaguered city of Nablus on the West Bank of Palestine.
The Sawalhas will share stories about the ways PHF brings respite and joy to children and their families in the Nablus region (including those in refugee camps), despite the ongoing catastrophic war in Gaza, as well as the “silent war” on the West Bank that has been so devastating over the past seven months.
Mohammed will also share a new educational project that will offer workshops and training in the principles of democracy for Palestinians in and around Nablus, building a movement toward a democratic future for Palestine.
We encourage you to invite interested friends to join us. Meanwhile, check our website for more information, and please donate here.
In solidarity,
American Friends of the Palestinian House of Friendship (PHF)
AFPHF's mission is to support PHF and has regional teams in New York City, Cambridge MA, Northampton MA, and Montpelier VT. We welcome new teams across the country!
