Important Notes for Play Café Young and Old at Bethanie
To ensure a safe, welcoming and respectful environment for all participants at our intergenerational Play Café, we kindly ask families to take note of the following information.
Supervision
Children must be actively supervised by a responsible adult at all times. It’s important that adults stay close to their children, especially during interactions with residents or when engaging in sensory or imaginative play.
Small Parts and Safety
Some materials used during the session may include small parts that could pose a choking hazard. We ask that parents and carers remain vigilant and help ensure little ones do not put these items in their mouths.
Play with Care
We encourage everyone to play with care. Children may be naturally curious and energetic, but we ask for gentle and respectful play at all times, particularly around our older friends. Please support your child in playing calmly and kindly.
Mobility Aids – Walkers & Wheelchairs
Many of the Bethanie residents attending use wheelchairs or walkers. Please help children be mindful of these mobility aids by avoiding climbing, leaning, or playing too closely around them. It's important to give residents space to move safely and comfortably.
Allergies and Sensitivities
Some of our play materials, such as playdough, may contain allergens like gluten, food colouring or other common irritants. Unfortunately, we are not able to provide alternative materials.
First Aid
One of our staff members holds a current First Aid qualification, and a basic First Aid kit is available on-site should it be needed. Please alert a team member straight away if you require assistance.
Respecting Shared Materials
All play materials are shared and we encourage families to treat them with care. Supporting your child to return items after use helps keep the play space safe, tidy, and enjoyable for everyone.
Thank You
Thank you for helping us create a joyful, safe and respectful environment where meaningful connections between young and old can flourish. If you have any questions or concerns during the session, please speak to one of our friendly staff.
Please stay home if you’re feeling unwell to ensure the safety and wellbeing of all participants.
