Play for Every Child: Inclusive Play in Practice

Every child has the right to play. But what does that right look like in practice?

Inclusive play is about more than simply making a space accessible. It is about creating environments, opportunities and experiences where every child can play in ways that are meaningful, enjoyable and beneficial to them.

This practical and engaging online course explores children's right to play, what we mean by inclusive play, and how we can identify and remove the barriers that prevent some children from fully participating in play.

Drawing on the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child, the Equality Act 2010, the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities and Scotland's Play Vision Statement and Action Plan, you'll explore how rights, responsibilities and inclusive practice connect to everyday play.

Through discussion, reflection, case studies and practical activities, you'll explore the difference between accessible and inclusive play, consider who may be missing from play opportunities, and develop practical strategies for creating environments where children can participate, belong and play in ways that work for them.
