Playscape Workshops Term 2- Brisbane Independent School
Event description
Help your child reach their full potential:
Playscape redefines drama and creative classes for 7โ12-year-olds by moving beyond the studio and into the urban landscape. In these nourishingย outdoor spaces, children step into a world of possibilityโwhere imagination takes shape, confidence grows, and connections deepen. Through play-based, facilitated experiences, they explore new ideas, embrace curiosity, and develop resilience. With every session, theyโre encouraged to take risks, express themselves, and discover their unique creative voice in a dynamic and supportive environment.
Our Term 2 Offerings:
May Series: Friendship Threads ๐งตโจ
Friendship, like a tapestry, is made of many threads woven togetherโsometimes tangled, sometimes smooth. In this workshop, young people will build skills to navigate friendships, strengthen communication, and embrace the beauty of working together.
May/June Series: Brighter Together โจ๐ฟ
A playful space to explore the power of speaking up, deep listening, and creative collaboration. This dynamic series encourages participants to use their voices, hear others, bring kindness to life through play, and let their lights shine bright together.
How it Works:
We are two qualified, experienced facilitatorsโeach with children of our ownโdedicated to guiding your child through a process that fosters both confidence and creative expression. Through a variety of experiences and skill-building activities, theyโll gain valuable tools to carry with them into real life.
- Creative Play & Storytelling โ Through imaginative role-play, children explore different characters and story worldsโdeveloping their creativity, communication, and confidence. They become confident with their own tools of expression both vocally and physically.
- Drama Foundations Without the Stage Pressure โ We introduce key drama elements like space, time, character, ensemble work, and deep listening, helping children gain expressive tools without the expectation of performing for an audience.
- Collaborative Creation โ Children work together to shape their own original performances using devising techniquesโlearning how to listen, cooperate, lead, and build something meaningful as a group. As they collaborate, children learn to have flexible thinking with empathy, ultimately strengthening their relationships.
- Design & Interaction โ Using items from our curated creative play kit, participants bring their stories to life through hands-on set design and prop play, adding a tactile, visual layer to their storytelling. As they design, they experience authentic opportunities for problem-solving and critical thinking.
- Mindfulness Moments โ Along the way, weโll take time to relax and focus, helping everyone feel calm, centred, and ready to participate at their own pace. As they deepen their awareness, they start to develop their emotional intelligence and regulation.
- Creative Take-Home Activity โ At the end of each series, children receive a family-friendly creative prompt to continue their creative journey at home.
- Snacks on Arrival โ Each workshop begins with a shared snack, allowing kids a moment to settle in, connect with peers, and feel ready to dive in.
