Playstate & Kristal Duffy Present: Shapes of Waves - An original art exhibition
Event description
Surprise! Playstate and Kristal Duffy are extremely excited to announce Shapes of Waves, an original art exhibition opening on Saturday the 8th of November at 6pm. Join us in celebrating Kristal's body of work with complimentary drinks and good vibes at Playstate on Fern.
Shapes of Waves explores the intimate dialogue between oceanic movement and human emotion through a series of dynamic triptych paintings. The collection captures the raw rhythm of coastal life, its constant state of motion, erosion, and renewal while reflecting the impact of climate change on natural beauty and stability.
About the Artist
Kristal Duffy is an emerging visual artist from Newcastle, creating on the unceded lands of the Awabakal people. Her abstract triptychs draw inspiration from coastal environments and the changing climate, expressed through fluid acrylic techniques. Mentored by Kate Belton at Tinkat Alley Art Studio, Duffy’s work explores the intersection of environmental awareness, texture, and emotion. Influenced by artists including Guy Harvey, Brett Whiteley, and Molly Leach, her art balances movement with meaning. Duffy was recently selected for the Lake Macquarie Launchpad residency, marking a pivotal moment in her artistic journey.
