Pleasure as Resistance
Event description
So many of us are feeling the weight of the current state of the world.
It can be extremely hard to know how to remain engaged with supporting our community, working as hard as is needed to make ends meet and keep ourselves and our families cared for.
Our screens are constantly bombarding us with news that is scary, sad and just plain bad.
As a result we often find ourselves becoming numb and detached from the world as a survival strategy.
This numbness is is a protective mechanism but can be detrimental to our mental and physical health. It also provides an opportunity for those with power to take advantage because it's easier to get the compliance of an apathetic community than to control those who are involved, active and empathetic to the pain of those outside their inner circle.
Now is the time to get back in touch with our bodies, our emotions and our communities.
The more we embrace our sensual pleasures and regulate our nervous systems, the better placed we are to stand powerfully for what we need and support our communities to thrive. Â
During this virtual workshop, Caitlin will guide you to get back in touch with your body and release stored tension.
You will be given an introduction to therapeutic somatic practices and vagus nerve stimulation in a community oriented online space. You will be encouraged to connect with others to share and receive support in this challenging time.
Caitlin is aware that for many of us there are not a few dollars spare to support at this time so unpaid tickets have been made available to ensure all who want to attend can.
If you can afford to spare a few dollars, a ticket option has been set as a 'pay what you can' if you would like to support Caitlin's work.
