Explore plot and narrative structure to enhance your writing.

In this workshop, we'll engage in close readings, constructive discussions, and practical tools for structuring your story. Join us for a deep-dive into the craft of plot and narrative structure, and leave with guides to crafting your own compelling stories.

  

Learning outcomes

As part of this workshop, you will learn:

  • A deeper understanding of plot, story and narrative structure.
  • Tools to craft compelling story arcs.
  • To engage in constructive discussions based on close readings of a text.

        

Format

This is an online workshop with a focus on craft; it will be hosted via Zoom. As part of the Adaptable 2024/25 program, this workshop is for emerging writers but is suitable for writers of all levels and writing backgrounds. A 7-day replay will be made available to participants.  

Complimentary access to this workshop is available to all Adaptable 2024/25 applicants – please select the free Applicant Admission ticket type (ensure your registration details match those of your initial application). Other Queensland Writers Centre members and the public may attend with a paid ticket.

     

About Lamisse

Lamisse (she/her) is a writer, poet, workshop facilitator and Adjunct Lecturer of the School of Social Science UNSW. Her first book, The Shape of Dust (Pantera Press, 2023), co-authored with her father, Hazem Hamouda, delves into her father’s experience of being a dual citizen imprisoned abroad. The Shape of Dust won the 2024 National Biography of the Year Award and was shortlisted for the 2024 NSW Premier’s Literary Award. Lamisse is a skilled workshop facilitator and mentor to emerging writers. She has run workshops with organisations such as Queensland Writer’s Centre, Australian Society of Authors, Melbourne Writer’s Festival, and QUT’s Carumba Institute.
