Tintype Portrait Sessions: Pompallier Mission & Printery
Description
Wet Plate Portraits at Pompallier Mission & Printery
Come along to beautiful Pompallier Mission and Printery in and have a portrait made using the photographic process of the 1850s.
With Waitangi Day just around the corner, it’s a fitting place to make a portrait with a real connection to New Zealand’s early history.
This January, I’ll be bringing my mobile darkroom to Russell for a limited number of portrait sessions. Each portrait is made by hand on a 5 x 4 inch glass or aluminium plate, coated, exposed and developed on the spot.
No digital camera, negatives or retouching - just a unique, handmade photograph made right there in front of you.
Bring a partner, friend or family member, or simply come along for a portrait of yourself. Maximum two people per session.
Your finished plate is varnished with traditional gum sandarac and you’ll also receive a digital copy.
Spaces are limited and bookings are essential.
Tickets for good, not greed Humanitix dedicates 100% of profits from booking fees to charity
