PMC Holiday Party 2024

Join us for our annual winter holiday social at the Schuylkill Center for Environmental Education! 

Come one, come all to celebrate the holiday season with your favorite local mushroom club! To celebrate a fruitful year, we will be hosting an afternoon of family friendly holiday festivities. We will share a potluck meal, do some crafts, screen the 2024 Fungi Film Festival, and hold a white elephant gift exchange. We will have merch for sale with fresh selections of shirts, stickers, pins. and prints. We will have a guided walk at 1pm (weather permitting), but feel free to hit the trails at the Schuylkill Center earlier or after in the event and bring back some mushrooms for us to identify. The white elephant gift exchange will be after the walk.

IF YOU ARE BRINGING A DISH to share please make a list of all the ingredients used, to be displayed on the table. We will provide index cards if you need them. If your dish contains wild mushrooms that you foraged, please make sure that you had them identified by other mycophiles, and preferably retain pictures of the mushroom you cooked (in your phone, etc).

Find details here about the 2024 Fungi Film Festival. Please note that we have not pre-screened the films and it is possible that some may not be family friendly. The films will be screened in a separate room from the main event. 

If you intend to participate in the GIFT EXCHANGE, gifts should be relevant to the subject of mycology or an adjacent field and should cost no more than $25. Examples of good gifts might include: mushroom earrings, a used field guide in good condition, a loupe, warm wool socks, or a headlamp. **Please refrain from contributing gifts that contain alcohol out of respect for members of our community who have chosen to stay sober or are not of age.**

Please dress accordingly if you plan to enjoy the trails as this is a rain or shine event. Be mindful of ticks and poison ivy. An ADA Accessible trail is located on the property. Children are encouraged to attend. Unfortunately dogs are not permitted on the property, so please leave your pups at home.

By registering for this event you grant the Philadelphia Mycology Club to use photographs and/or video of you taken at the event in publications, online, and in other communications related to the Philadelphia Mycology Club.
