Event description

Join Poetica's Miriam Hechtman for a poetry workshop that uses poems as prompts.

There is something about sitting and writing in community. It's a different kind of writing experience - the discipline of time, the engagement with participants, the sounds of writing, and the opportunity to share words with others. Miriam will bring a selection of poems to this session. She will read a poem aloud and then participants choose a 'golden line' from the poem to prompt them to write their own poem. Then there is quiet writing time. Then a chance to share your poem. Then on to the next poem. And repeat.

Join us for a cup of tea (or very good coffee from across the road) and let's write.

Miriam Hechtman is a writer, producer and poet. She is the founder and creative director of Poetica, a live poetry, music and arts initiative, and the editor of The Alphabet of Women (Ginninderra Press 2022). Throughout her working life, Miriam has partnered with artists and creatives to produce significant projects on screen, on the page and in real life. She lives in Sydney with her husband, two daughters, and Poppy the dog.
