Event description

New year, fresh inspiration! This will be the final Poet in the House Masterclass + Workshop in this series. It will culminate in a Poet in the House Summer Soiree on Friday 31st January - an opportunity for workshop participants and members of the community to try their poetry out on the open mic, as well as to enjoy watching a couple of Feature Poets showcase their style. (Available for bookings now [free!])

Part 1: The Masterclass

This month we’ll be creating ‘exquisite corpse’ poems, where participants will pitch in lines we shall then reconstitute and stitch together to build Franken-poems. We'll also be filling prompt jars with juicy ideas to help keep you writing beyond this series of classes.

Part 2: The Workshop

Bring along a poem you've written. During the final hour of this session, we will workshop your poetry in a kind and constructive way. Paris will facilitate discussions to try to help you identify possible blind spots in your work in order to strengthen and polish your poetry so that it sparkles!

This Poet in the House Masterclass + Workshop has been made possible through the generous support of a Randwick City Council Community Creative Grant. Thank you!
