Firecracker Poems: PoetiCas at the Fringe
Event description
FIRECRACKER POEMS
chosen and read by local identities
PoetiCas at the Castlemaine Fringe Festival
Saturday 22 March 2.30pm-4.30pm
Who met Seamus Heaney in Ireland – and will she read one of his poems? Hear from the only person who has recited ‘McArthur’s Fart’ at a reception on the 30th floor of the United Nations building in New York. Be inspired by a community member who won the Victorian Premier’s literary award for poetry. Be entertained by the woman who has a theatre named after her in Castlemaine.
The lineup of community members is exceptional. In what promises to be an unforgettable experience, they will each share poems that have inspired them.
Our readers are:
Cate Kennedy, Harry Nankin, obyn Annear, Joel Meadows, Phee Broadway, Dugald McLellan, Robyn Davidson, Keith McKenry, Maggie Fooke, Bernard Slattery, Sarah Tomilson, Sam Loy, Siobhán Robb, Luca Sartori
PoetiCas has been hosting regular poetry gatherings in Castlemaine since 2015. Our monthly events have become a cherished part of the community. For Castlemaine Fringe, local identities will bring us their chosen poems for an afternoon of great poetry. All are welcome. So, buy a drink from the bar and join us at The Coolroom at the Northern Arts Hotel, the home for PoetiCas. $5 admission. Contact: poeticaspoeticas@outlook.com.
Presented by The Coolroom as part of Castlemaine Fringe Festival 2025.
