Event description

Poetry Bauhaus presents a special pre-gig workshop to be facilitated by Waffle Irongirl.

Most of us hope that our words will be received by a reader or audience with impact and intention. That our poetry will convey the rhythms of our heart, the music we hear in the inner ear.

The workshop is facilitated by Es Foong / Waffle Irongirl: a poet and performer living on the lands of the Wurundjeri People of the Kulin Nation. They think and write about strange geographies of belonging, and the power of the pause to offer alternative ways of being. / Their poems have appeared in Rabbit Poetry, Kalliope X, Best of Australian Poems 2022 and long-listed in the University of Canberra Vice Chancellor’s Poetry Prize 2023. / They’ve featured on stages including Queensland Poetry Festival 2022 and Canberra Poetic City 2023. They want you to know that you are a wild, precious and unique expression of possibility and you are cherished. Their debut poetry collection from Recent Work Press is called Clot and Marrow.

Write your poems and try them out later in the afternoon at the Poetry Bauhaus event at 2.30pm. Find out more about Poetry Bauhaus at:
