Description

Receive personal & insightful feedback on your writing in an intimate, supportive class environment.

A short, intensive session for poets to receive constructive feedback on a small group of poems or one longer poem. It will be especially useful for writers looking to submit work for publication or submissions opportunities.

Supportive critical comments will be provided on formal and thematic aspects, along with questions, suggestions and resources as may be helpful. Each participant will receive written and oral feedback from the convenor, as well as benefit from peer input by reading and responding to the work of all participants.

Format & additional information

This is a poetry feedback clinic with a focus on writing craft; it will be held in-person. This course is recommended for emerging poets but is suitable for committed writers of all levels with work-in-progress poetry.

Applications for the course will close, and draft poems will be due for submission to Queensland Writers Centre, by Friday 4 October.

Submit:

  • two poems each no longer than one page, or
  • one poem no longer than two pages (maximum 30 lines per page).

Poems may be incomplete but should be developed enough to benefit from the advice offered. Queensland Writers Centre will assess all applications and select writers for the course. As well as oral feedback in the session, the convenor will also provide written comments via Track Changes (not detailed edits or corrections), which will be provided shortly following the session.
