Event description

Join us for an Evening of Poetry with Gaza

An open mic event in solidarity with and to raise funds for the Gaza Poets Society—a spoken word community in Gaza that teaches poetry, gathers poets' work across the region, and connects Gaza’s voices to the international literary world.

The ongoing genocide of Palestinians continues. Poetry is a weapon to break the silence, defy the violence, and ensure Gaza’s voices are never erased. Poetry carries what can’t always be said directly—it holds grief, resistance, memory, and love, across borders, through silence, beyond the news cycle.

As Refaat Alareer, cofounder of the Gaza Poets Society, who was killed in 2023, wrote in his powerful poem "If I Must Die":

"If I die
you must live
to tell my story."

Want to share something?
Bring a poem, a scrap from your notes, a line that’s been with you.
