Poets' Corner with Helen Parsons

Welcome to our first Poets' Corner for 2025, with guest poet Helen Parsons.

Helen has lived for most of her life in Adelaide. She was a long-time attender of Jan Owen’s Aldinga poetry workshops. Her poems have been published in Australian and overseas journals, and in 2020 Wakefield Press published ‘The Feeling of Bigness’, her sonnet sequence on the life and work of the artist Georgia O’Keeffe. This book was described by Diane Fahey as being “at once a very earthed and a very aerial and expansive collection of poetry”. 2025 will see the publication of ‘Being a Creature’, poems written in response to the Christ in the Wilderness paintings of Stanley Spencer. Helen is also putting together a poetry collection.
