About Poets@Stones

Curated by renowned Queensland poet, Brett (B. R.) Dionysius, Poets@Stones is held on the last Thursday of each month, from February through to November, and features readings from three local poets.

Our featured Poets in November are Brentley Frazer, Stephanie Green, and Adam Pettet.

Dr Brentley Frazer is an Australian writer of Celt, Norse & Wiradjuri descent widely known for his dirty realist, gritty, Gen. X memoir Scoundrel Days (UQP, 2017). He was publisher and editor of Retort Magazine (2001-2013) and Bareknuckle Poet Journal of Letters (2013-2020). He was co-founder of The Vision Area (1998-2000) and a founding member of the Brisbane spoken word event Speed Poets (2003-2017). In 2012 he completed a Master of Arts at James Cook University under the supervision of creative non-fiction author Lindsay Simpson (Brothers in Arms, Daniel’s Story). In 2017 he was awarded a Doctor of Philosophy from Griffith University under the supervision of Nigel Krauth and the poet Anthony Lawrence.

Stephanie Green lives on the unceded lands of the Kombumerri peoples, at the Gold Coast in Queensland. Her short fiction, poetry and creative non-fiction essays are widely published in Australian and international journals, including Meniscus, StylusLit, Axon, TEXT, and Live Encounters. Examples of her work appear in anthologies, such as Pratik: Fire and Rain (APWT/Nirala, 2023), The Writing Mind (Recent Work Press, 2023), and The Anthology of Australian Prose Poetry (Melbourne University Press, 2020). Stephanie’s most recent collection is Seams of Repair (Calanthe Press, 2023). Her books also include a collection of prose poems, Breathing in Stormy Seasons (Recent Work Press, 2019), and her selected short fiction, Too Much Too Soon (Pandanus, 2006). She has worked as a freelance writer and reviewer, cook, arts administrator, and publisher. Since 2008 she has lectured in Writing with Griffith University.

Adam Pettet is an Australian writer, editor and academic. He has published two collections of poetry and has had work published both nationally and internationally, including Antipodes the official journal of the American Association of Australasian Literary Studies, Oxford Poetry, The Australian Poetry Anthology, World Literature Today and Dazed & Confused Magazine. Pettet has performed, chaired panels and been panel member at various festivals including The Brisbane Writers Festival, The National Young Writers Festival and The Queensland Poetry Festival, of which he was Assistant Director from 1997 – 2000. Pettet was a co-founder and senior editor of Bareknuckle Books, editing four collections of poetry, two Anthologies, one of which was included in The Australian newspapers Book of the Year, and a collection of short stories by award winning author Venero Armanno. He is currently a sessional Creative Writing teacher at Griffith University and Administration Officer for The Asia Pacific Writers and Translators Inc.
