Pop up sewing/mending/darning repair workshop/cafe run by Darebin Repair Cafe

This pop up sewing repair cafe is part of a four workshop series we call 'Our Fixing Fiesta" 
The aim is for you to learn how to repair your own clothes/accessories/rugs etc with assistance from our sewing/mending/darning fixers.

When: Wednesday 30th April 11am to 1pm

Where: Dragonfly Cafe front room. Enter at 130 High Street, Preston.

Suggested items: socks, jumpers, clothing with holes, rips etc (NO ZIPS please)

1 item per person but bring back up in case time allows to do more. 

Bring: matching coloured cotton or darning thread/wool and patches

We do have some fabric for patches and unpickers etc for you to learn how to get started. Plus a needle felting kit if you want to experiment on a woollen garment with a small hole in it.

Tickets are $7 for members of Transition Darebin and $10 for the general public

Parking: In a side street or on High St.

Public transport: #86 tram on Plenty Rd. closest stop is stop 44 and walk over to High st.  Bus along Bell Street and walk south along high st.

Cycling: Advisable



Who will be your host?

Darebin Repair Cafe is a repair cafe volunteer group that are active in Darebin in the Northern Suburbs of Melbourne. We have been running repair cafes since 2018. We are part of the International Repair cafe foundation and also part of Transition Darebin.

Transition Darebin is a community group based in Darebin, Melbourne which aims to inspire a transition to lower energy, more resilient and more sustainable ways of living. We are part of the worldwide Transition Network, an international movement of local communities coming together to re-imagine and rebuild our world.


Important Notes 

  • This event is separate to our normal Darebin Repair cafe which will be coming up on May 25th 2025

This workshop is part of a four workshop series funded by a community grant by Darebin City Council.
