Event description

How would you describe the music of PopProperly – Rock, Pop, Folk? In an era when music is dominated by tech, AI and formula, it is refreshing to find a band that defies categories and carves its own niche.

This ability to bend the musical envelope has always been evident in the band’s live and recorded performances, highlighting their ability to blend styles to produce a sound that is uniquely theirs, delivered with characteristic passion, power and relevance.

The PopProperly sound has been wowing audiences around the world for more than 30 years. Never heard of them?  Well, just ask the hordes of regulars from legendary shows in Brisbane through the 90’s, and those who followed the band through a decade of annual, extended tours to Ireland, Germany, Holland, Belgium and Scandinavia.

After not performing for a period of some 25years, PopProperly is back out and about on the live music scene, with gigs in Brisbane and Melbourne venues and selected festivals in the pipeline, and a European tour being planned for 2026.

Why, you may well ask? Number one reason is that for the first time in many years band members are living in the same country (Australia), finding themselves with the space between other projects to perform together. Number two is that in challenging times, PopProperly’s potent mix of social and political comment, accessible musical style, and open and joyous rapport (with audiences and each other) is more relevant than ever.

So, what might audiences expect after this considerable hiatus? A return to the band’s 90’s heyday is at the heart of things, showcasing both their own song-writing and unrivalled ability to choose and re-interpret material from other artists that fit seamlessly. Rock, Pop, Folk? They will all be in the mix.  Overlaid with PopProperly’s infectious exuberance. Thought provoking? For sure, but at the same time, as has been said many times, if you can’ t dance to PopProperly, then you just can’t f##*en dance!

PopProperly 2025 is:

Sue Ferrers – Violin, vocals
