Pornography, Young People & Sexual Violence (Online)
Event description
Exposure to pornography is a matter of WHEN not IF for today’s youth, and pornography and sexualised images can have a negative impact on young peoples’ understanding and expectations of sexual relationships, consent, and their experiences of sexual violence.
In this workshop, participants will:
- develop a greater understanding of the impacts of pornography on young people examine developmentally appropriate and problematic sexual behaviours with regard to pornography and sexually explicit material
- Learn why conversations about the role of pornography in the young person’s relationships is an important step in understanding their experiences as a victim/survivor
- Explore relevant resources that are age-appropriate, inclusive, and trauma informed
Sexual violence workers/people doing sexual violence work will gain confidence, knowledge, skills and capacity to talk about pornography with young people in the context of their own therapeutic and educational work.

About the facilitators
This training will be delivered by Di Macleod and Kerrin Bradfield from the Gold Coast Centre Against Sexual Violence.
Di Macleod (MCommMgt (candidate), BA[SocSci], Dip Counsel)
Di Macleod is the Director of the Gold Coast Centre Against Sexual Violence. Di is a longstanding advocate with thirty years of education and training in the area of of violence against women.
Kerrin Bradfield (MSexol. PGradDipPublicHlth, BA[Psych], DipCounsel)
Kerrin Bradfield is the Education & Engagement Co-ordinator at the Gold Coast Centre Against Sexual Violence. Kerrin is an accredited Sexuality Educator and passionate consent activist. She has fifteen years of education and training in the area of women's sexual health and well being.
