Event description

Explore how flow shapes the ecology of the Port River from tides to plants, salt to sand, feeding to resting, hard to soft infrastructure. And how do the river, and its inhabitants, influence us, as it rises and falls, shapes and carries, ails and heals, hosts and sustains?

Take a guided walk with Friends of Port River, and a member of Council’s environmental team, along the southern end of the Port River, from Mangrove Cove (near Ethelton Railway Station) to Yitpi Yartapuultiku. Coinciding with low spring tides, key features of the River will be revealed including a tidal creek, mangroves, shellfish, birds and the Yitpi Yartapuultiku living shoreline.

Join tour guides and participants in an (optional) cuppa and chat at the Yitpi Yartapuultiku café, after the tour.

Wear footwear suitable for walking on sand at Yitpi Yartapuultiku. Unfortunately, there is no wheelchair access to the shoreline.
